Gas linepipe is a part of a gas trunkline, which unites gas compressor stations into a single gas transmission system to deliver gas from gas fields to gas consumers. A gas linepipe comprises a pipeline itself with branch lines, loops, shunts, control valves, crossings through natural and manmade obstructions, as well as gas pressure reduction, pig launching and methanol injection units.

The gas linepipe operational efficiency and integrity are achieved through taking of the following administrative and technical measures:

  • constant gas pipeline maintenance checks (walk-round, drive-round and flight checks);
  • pipe non-destructive testing;
  • gas pipeline maintenance, timely execution of precautionary maintenance and reconstruction;
  • hydraulic efficiency maintenance on a level close to project efficiency;
  • retrofitting and renovating of outdated and worn-out equipment;
  • emergency situations and accidents forecasting, preventing and eliminating;
  • making regular notifications to external organizations' heads and local population about gas pipelines location and safety measures;
  • compliance with the requirements for the protected zone and the zone of minimum allowed distances from populated areas, industrial and agricultural enterprises, buildings and structures.
