Gas separation is the process of separating solid, liquid and gas phased of the flow with further ejection of solid and liquid phases. Gas separation is aimed at preventing moisture and solid particles ingress into the field gas gathering systems and process facilities of gas and gas condensate fields. The insufficient level of gas separation results in low hydraulic efficiency of flowlines, considerable energy over-consumption for gas compression, operating costs increase, possibility of gas-hydrate locks formation in gas field gathering and transportation systems, reduction of field operations effectiveness. In gas separators, gas separation from liquid and solid impurities is based on the particles fall-out of the low-speed flows due to gravity or inertia (centrifugal) forces that occur in curvilinear flows.
